There is so much waste created by the textile industry. I love fabric but I don't feel the need to hoard it or build a stash.</span></p><p><span style="background-color: white; color: #999999; font-family: verdana;">After owning a Patchwork and Quilting shop in the late 1990s and with a partner who was a representative for Moda fabrics, I managed to gather lots of fabrics. In 2014 I started a BA Hons in Textile Design (printed fabrics) which led to more fabrics being accumulated.</span></p><p><span style="background-color: white; color: #999999; font-family: verdana;">I realise that having so much fabric inhibits, rather than encourages productivity.</span></p><p><span style="background-color: white; color: #999999; font-family: verdana;">Sitting looking at huge amounts of fabric is overwhelming for me. Gradually I have donated, sold or given away most of my accumulation. I now work with a small collection and aim to use every little piece. This encourages my creativity and encourages a large body of work from even a small collection.</span></p><p><span style="background-color: white; color: #999999; font-family: verdana;">I also avoid taking part in dozens workshops. I have attended so many and each producing lots of samples. I'm working back over my favourites taking the techniques learned to use "Every Scrap of Knowledge" to some <span style="caret-color: rgb(153, 153, 153);">purpose.</span></span></p><p><span style="color: #999999; font-family: verdana;"><span style="background-color: white; caret-color: rgb(153, 153, 153);">Workshops can become addictive but can be costly if their inspiration is not carried forward into a piece of work.</span></span></p><p><span style="color: #999999; font-family: verdana;"><span style="background-color: white;">This Baby Snuggle Quilt "Rock a Bye Baby" was made from striped man's </span><span style="caret-color: rgb(153, 153, 153);">shirt from a charity shop, an aqua blue linen shirt </span></span><span style="caret-color: rgb(153, 153, 153); color: #999999; font-family: verdana;">(washed and worn) a vintage white cotton sheet and a cotton duvet cover. plus a small piece of linen from a previous project.</span></p><p><span style="color: #999999; font-family: verdana;"><span style="caret-color: rgb(153, 153, 153);"><br /></span></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="color: #999999; font-family: verdana; text-align: right;">Using Intuitive Improv piecing create an abstract design suitable for a boy or a girl. I live alone which is something I love. I selfishly enjoy the freedom of not having to compromise. So I am probably well equipped to deal with the situation. Plus, I have enough fabric and art materials to work through for several months to come. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">It is a time to learn a different way of working and re-evaluating the things we like to do.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">I have always enjoyed creating books and have made and sold many different styles over the years.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">Hand embroidery has always played a major part of my life since being a little girl. Taught by my mother and grandmother, it has been a constant pleasure.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">This is a small journal inspired by Faded Roses. It has a Dupion Silk outer cover with a Briar Rose hand stitched on the front.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">Inside are four signatures of pink hand tinted paper each enclosed in an embroidered signature cover.</span><br />

We certainly hit the ground running in the second year of my degree course…..<br />
<br />
Our module brief 'Shades of Indigo' asked us to create designs for fashion textiles using 'indigo' as our colour palette.<br />
<br />
Well, everything has turned blue, not only paper and fabric, but my hands( no gloves) and several white shirts (oh.. where did I put my apron) .<br />
<br />
I needed to produce thirty paper designs and fifteen fabric designs using print, stitch and manipulation.<br />
<br />
Heres a selection of my work. <br />
<br />
My inspiration came from my summer sketchbook. I had experimented with Oriental brush painting.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ptnbbrecm4w/VEi9MMubFoI/AAAAAAAAEKc/MT7KKnYu3A0/s1600/DSC02990.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ptnbbrecm4w/VEi9MMubFoI/AAAAAAAAEKc/MT7KKnYu3A0/s1600/DSC02990.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also looked at Japanese textiles especially 'Boro' with is now considered an art form although it was initially a utilitarian way of preserving clothes and other textiles.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DvuQ8yuhaQs/VEi-Vr5LWLI/AAAAAAAAEK4/aYUhThyAbbc/s1600/boro4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DvuQ8yuhaQs/VEi-Vr5LWLI/AAAAAAAAEK4/aYUhThyAbbc/s1600/boro4.jpg" height="168" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
During my further research I looked at the work of 'Yayoi Kusama' who lives and works in Japan and works with repeated 'Polka Dots.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8TUcnYW_qFI/VEi-jxpVDwI/AAAAAAAAELA/DdPPUpxUuaU/s1600/DSC03011.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8TUcnYW_qFI/VEi-jxpVDwI/AAAAAAAAELA/DdPPUpxUuaU/s1600/DSC03011.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I worked on my own piece of 'Boro' and did some darning too. Both are ways of making fabric last longer as well as being decorative.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

There is a real pleasure in searching through the internet and looking at American Primitive dolls, there appeal is endless.<br />
<br />
My friend Joan had a birthday recently so I made "Maddy" as a gift for her. This happy little soul now sits on a chair in her sitting room.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5riVyqcITh8/VBAfPIV-ACI/AAAAAAAADsY/CcK-S4Q0-hk/s1600/IMAG0059.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5riVyqcITh8/VBAfPIV-ACI/AAAAAAAADsY/CcK-S4Q0-hk/s1600/IMAG0059.jpg" height="640" width="356" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
One doll is never enough, so along came 'Adeline'. I am very fond of her as she dares to be different. She looks at life from all directions and is a proud individual.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mP0Jj8auG-0/VBAgUXANG1I/AAAAAAAADsk/p-BfZYPzCT8/s1600/IMAG0058.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mP0Jj8auG-0/VBAgUXANG1I/AAAAAAAADsk/p-BfZYPzCT8/s1600/IMAG0058.jpg" height="640" width="356" /></a></div>
<br />
Her hair is wild, although she tries hard to tame it somehow it always has a windswept look. Her necklace is made from boot buttons from her grandmothers button box. She always has a wry smile on her face thinking about the scrapes she gets in to. We would all love her as a friend!!<br />
<br />
Coffee time now, off to meet another friend.<br />
<br />
Have fun.<br />

</div>
At the end of our last term we were set a summer project to keep us busy during the holiday.<br />
<br />
We were asked to fill an A3 sketchbook with a documentation of our summer and to look for design opportunities in the every day.<br />
<br />
The trees in my last post are part of this sketchbook and were inspired by the artist David Hockney and his wonderful "Yorkshire Sketchbook".<br />
<br />
My work is a random look at places and events of the summer, Chelsea flower show, The Tour De France in the UK, walks along the coast and various other ramblings.<br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-EBrSq0ba4DM/VAx67QnLnMI/AAAAAAAADpw/C21KjKnFzWQ/s1600/IMAG0326.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-EBrSq0ba4DM/VAx67QnLnMI/AAAAAAAADpw/C21KjKnFzWQ/s1600/IMAG0326.jpg" height="400" width="222" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />

<br />
On a visit to the beach in Devon I came across a wonderful bed of alliums. Such lovely shapes and colours.<br />

So many ways to draw and paint these majestic flowers. It would be great to develop this theme further<br />

<br />
As you may know I started a BAHons degree in design last September. I have to say it has filled every waking moment (and often given me sleepless nights,) but I am loving every minute.<br />
<br />
I have been pushed way out of my comfort zone more times than I can count, learning new techniques and developing ones that I already knew.<br />
<br />
I have spent the summer break working on my sketchbook, visiting galleries, and researching many artists and designers. What a treat it's been.<br />
<br />
This is a piece of work on trees that I've been working on, the medium is ink on paper.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-1bR1LYCvlk0/VAB5pMbBYzI/AAAAAAAADiw/LwOQzd_ULzg/s1600/IMAG0076.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="display: inline !important; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-1bR1LYCvlk0/VAB5pMbBYzI/AAAAAAAADiw/LwOQzd_ULzg/s1600/IMAG0076.jpg" height="320" width="178" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I've also worked the piece on linen fabric using procion dyes and bleach the finishing with hand stitching.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kmP56zisTIE/VAB6LICtNZI/AAAAAAAADi4/FE2Lcaua5u0/s1600/IMAG0077.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kmP56zisTIE/VAB6LICtNZI/AAAAAAAADi4/FE2Lcaua5u0/s1600/IMAG0077.jpg" height="320" width="178" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
In between I've allowed myself the luxury of a little hand stitching inspired the Kantha work of the women in Bangladesh and Bengal. Some of these have added to my Etsy shop.<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
I love little things to stitch and spent a pleasant afternoon stitching these little brooches.<br />
<br />
The back is some beautiful Irish tweed that I bought at<br />
The Festival Quilts back in the summer. I've built up the layers with different fabrics<br />
then added buttons and bits.<br />
A quick and easy project and<br />
It,s a fun way to brighten up my coat!!<br />

I've been 'awol' for so long so it's good to say Hello…<br />
<br />
I'm loving my course at Somerset College of Art and Design, it's hard work and very time consuming but it's wonderful to be part of such a inspiring and creative environment.<br />
<br />
My stitching has taken a back seat to painting and drawing but as it's the holidays I gave myself a little treat .<br />
I designed and embroidered this little Etui.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-flvlcUs4AzI/UsBrTaAAcVI/AAAAAAAACiI/fFlqOnfYQhI/s1600/1477665_663506453701212_494659688_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-flvlcUs4AzI/UsBrTaAAcVI/AAAAAAAACiI/fFlqOnfYQhI/s400/1477665_663506453701212_494659688_n.jpg" width="225" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
It took a while to decide on how to work on the construction, but then came the real pleasure of stitching the design.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
The pearls make the edges look pretty too<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The pockets are to hold your stitching needs and the centre is a little pincushion.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
2014 will be busy for me but I'm looking forward to it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Happy New year to you all too.</div>

<br />
I always stitch where ever I go so it,s nice to have a little set of my needfuls to quickly pick up.<br />
<br />
First my hoop, all ready to go in its own pocket.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ETnXmGxNWhA/UfFIEdOlpzI/AAAAAAAACSI/N95YUCCmk_Q/s1600/DSC02808.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ETnXmGxNWhA/UfFIEdOlpzI/AAAAAAAACSI/N95YUCCmk_Q/s320/DSC02808.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
There's a place on the back for scissors, they are held in with a button and a loop.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The pocket holds a 6 1/2 " hoop just the right size for work on the move.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3U-7ChDfVgQ/UfFIJET4-8I/AAAAAAAACSQ/v0_aZnac-10/s1600/DSC02810.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3U-7ChDfVgQ/UfFIJET4-8I/AAAAAAAACSQ/v0_aZnac-10/s320/DSC02810.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The matching sewing roll has all those essential notions.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EM60RZCbop4/UfFIREz8HRI/AAAAAAAACSY/C91p44ReF0Q/s1600/DSC02812.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EM60RZCbop4/UfFIREz8HRI/AAAAAAAACSY/C91p44ReF0Q/s320/DSC02812.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
Pockets for a pack of needles and buttons, a needle case<br />
and a place to store your markers and stitch removers.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-c1wv8VgxSD0/UfFIUclwYtI/AAAAAAAACSg/ypW3Bbd4pgM/s1600/DSC02814.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-c1wv8VgxSD0/UfFIUclwYtI/AAAAAAAACSg/ypW3Bbd4pgM/s320/DSC02814.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Next a roll to hold your threads, neat and tidy, ready to use.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-77hIfnWgIA8/UfFIYIlFhfI/AAAAAAAACSo/fPNtYPJv4mA/s1600/DSC02815.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-77hIfnWgIA8/UfFIYIlFhfI/AAAAAAAACSo/fPNtYPJv4mA/s320/DSC02815.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The flaps hold everything in place.....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DC8DkuHRQn8/UfFIaoTtnmI/AAAAAAAACSw/C0hEt1n9Itk/s1600/DSC02816.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DC8DkuHRQn8/UfFIaoTtnmI/AAAAAAAACSw/C0hEt1n9Itk/s320/DSC02816.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NUVoE-UpZEs/UfFIdsxhDZI/AAAAAAAACS4/u39wyrLdVZc/s1600/DSC02817.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NUVoE-UpZEs/UfFIdsxhDZI/AAAAAAAACS4/u39wyrLdVZc/s320/DSC02817.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
and, to complete the set, a wrist pin cushion...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The band is held in place with'Velcro' for a comfy fit.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HwwAK_UKAEE/UfFIkEAHtlI/AAAAAAAACTI/k_n1M4wOTMY/s1600/DSC02821.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HwwAK_UKAEE/UfFIkEAHtlI/AAAAAAAACTI/k_n1M4wOTMY/s320/DSC02821.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>

<br />
I'm just off to list these in my Etsy shop but wanted to tell you about my new venture.<br />
For the next three years I will be studying full time for a BA Hons in Interior Textiles and Surface design. I am really excited to be doing this and will be a very mature student. But, for the first time for many many years, I have the freedom to start something like this.<br />
I am told that my work will change during this process and I will be pushed out of my comfort zone, that's great although I may have a little grumble to my blogging friends, but also I hope to share with you all my ups and downs so watch this space.<br />

<br />
Today I've been using them in embroidery and stitched onto some vintage linens.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ln9TscUsD1A/Ub3dUuDlgUI/AAAAAAAACRI/vR7BYLIbMlU/s1600/DSC02773.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ln9TscUsD1A/Ub3dUuDlgUI/AAAAAAAACRI/vR7BYLIbMlU/s320/DSC02773.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I needed to pull the Viola apart and peel the paper backing from the back.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_87jiEIyFEU/Ub3dX1Bj46I/AAAAAAAACRQ/gfe6uUNTqhQ/s1600/DSC02774.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_87jiEIyFEU/Ub3dX1Bj46I/AAAAAAAACRQ/gfe6uUNTqhQ/s320/DSC02774.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The bullion stitch has been worked with two strands of thread and the French knots with six strands. I added a few seed beads to give a little sparkle</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-X3jKLUQ_o44/Ub3dbLSmE7I/AAAAAAAACRY/X3Uux08tQzE/s1600/DSC02771.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-X3jKLUQ_o44/Ub3dbLSmE7I/AAAAAAAACRY/X3Uux08tQzE/s320/DSC02771.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
On the single Hydrangea flower I've used silk perle for the bullion stitch and the central French knots</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
then a normal Perle for the woven flower. </div>
These are a wonderful addition to crazy quilting, embroidery, collages, journals, the list is endless.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4t6h_p1mR5k/Ub3dddPv8CI/AAAAAAAACRg/ya8Alozxrmk/s1600/DSC02772.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4t6h_p1mR5k/Ub3dddPv8CI/AAAAAAAACRg/ya8Alozxrmk/s320/DSC02772.JPG" width="320" /></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have lots of these flower for sale in beautiful vintage shades</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-lTSI4Hzwp7Q/Ub3dgl0N4vI/AAAAAAAACRo/_dpU-YQ9Ujs/s1600/DSC02782.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-lTSI4Hzwp7Q/Ub3dgl0N4vI/AAAAAAAACRo/_dpU-YQ9Ujs/s320/DSC02782.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
They will be in my Etsy shop soon, meanwhile just email if you would like to purchase any of them.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
They are just £2 a pack/ 3.5 US $ plus shipping.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Happy stitching.</div>

<br /></div>
<div>
The hexagons are cut from pieces of vintage linens and I've added some hand stitching...<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9_PKqVKJvWU/UbSopWDX8WI/AAAAAAAACP8/7dysGhQCg6M/s1600/DSC02739.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9_PKqVKJvWU/UbSopWDX8WI/AAAAAAAACP8/7dysGhQCg6M/s320/DSC02739.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
there will be more added to the cover later...<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-egQRa5BMkKw/UbSosFPHJyI/AAAAAAAACQE/eUk-tJwmOVc/s1600/DSC02740.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-egQRa5BMkKw/UbSosFPHJyI/AAAAAAAACQE/eUk-tJwmOVc/s320/DSC02740.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The first page had a pocket and a lace motif. These roses are my version of 'broderie perse' except the roses aren't sew down but are standing away from the lace to give a 3D effect. The green velvet leaves just add a finishing touch.<br />

<br />
and lastly .... this pretty Japanese silk fabric was lying at the bottom of my work box, it's been there for a long time. Today along came a little inspiration and here we have a selection of flower pins, I'm pleased with these, that little piece of fabric has turned into something useful...<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zvRu20h27kQ/UatzwFYMMtI/AAAAAAAACPE/4OmSk19maw8/s1600/DSC02733.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zvRu20h27kQ/UatzwFYMMtI/AAAAAAAACPE/4OmSk19maw8/s320/DSC02733.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
I just love this fabric with it's pretty Old English roses, I can almost smell the scent in a beautiful walled garden...the cover is ready for embellishing so that's where I'll start.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aTrVcSGH5r4/Uatzy4vO7XI/AAAAAAAACPM/mfLze_5QSFI/s1600/DSC02734.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aTrVcSGH5r4/Uatzy4vO7XI/AAAAAAAACPM/mfLze_5QSFI/s320/DSC02734.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Inside the front cover is a double layer of wadding overlaid with a piece of vintage linen. this will be my mini design wall where I can pin some ideas. Next is a pocket page with a piece of lace.. what can I do with this? add a piece of lace to the edge? stitch some beads to the lace motive? hide something special in the pocket??<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UJx7MaEsdRk/Uatz2Sk2N3I/AAAAAAAACPU/82Ah48Gxuck/s1600/DSC02735.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UJx7MaEsdRk/Uatz2Sk2N3I/AAAAAAAACPU/82Ah48Gxuck/s320/DSC02735.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
the paper pages will be my design sketchbook for all things pale pink, think pretty flowers, soft petals, exquisite threads...<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zOaiidvxw6M/Uatz6TkbDxI/AAAAAAAACPc/WaHlYCVB3KQ/s1600/DSC02736.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zOaiidvxw6M/Uatz6TkbDxI/AAAAAAAACPc/WaHlYCVB3KQ/s320/DSC02736.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I'm starting at the front and working through the book , it will be a wonderful source of inspiration.<br />
<br />
I also made a pretty pouch to keep my bits and pieces before they are added to the book, simple folding and a little hand embroidery, all the things I love..<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-n6wF8gKMxVs/Uatz9jSfF4I/AAAAAAAACPk/b7fzkxwTr2I/s1600/DSC02737.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-n6wF8gKMxVs/Uatz9jSfF4I/AAAAAAAACPk/b7fzkxwTr2I/s320/DSC02737.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I've taken a piece of cut work from a piece of vintage linen and stitched over the top with French knots along with whipped straight stitch and lazy daisy leaves.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dUGmcTKxVUc/Uat0AQxk1MI/AAAAAAAACPs/MdgPO7Fy6eU/s1600/DSC02738.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dUGmcTKxVUc/Uat0AQxk1MI/AAAAAAAACPs/MdgPO7Fy6eU/s320/DSC02738.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
This is a lovely project that I am working on prior to teaching a Journals class in Devon at the end of June. I've been before and they are lovely ladies so I know that it will be a great day.<br />
<br />
Have a good week all, Happy Stitching<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KYA3oFQ9dQg/UaXal1_1sTI/AAAAAAAACNk/2TXgj-5re74/s1600/DSC02732.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KYA3oFQ9dQg/UaXal1_1sTI/AAAAAAAACNk/2TXgj-5re74/s320/DSC02732.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
I found this one in a skip whilst out walking with my Grandson. As I paused to look at it he said ''Oh No Nana'' and walked quickly down the street. I asked the friendly builders if I could take it away and looking at me sadly they said ''Please do.''<br />
<br />
I've covered some marks with pieces of lace and added some sumptuous bead fringing using my glue gun. Finally some pretty velvet pansies finish the look.<br />
<br />
So if you have a plain lampshade...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-08Vo-oD9sBQ/UaXapiPc5rI/AAAAAAAACNs/HUWXGbYFSs0/s1600/DSC02720.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-08Vo-oD9sBQ/UaXapiPc5rI/AAAAAAAACNs/HUWXGbYFSs0/s320/DSC02720.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
Just add a bead fringe....and a pretty rose....<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0uJyccDMLak/UaXbF5gIlJI/AAAAAAAACN8/_MHCqDjxRA0/s1600/DSC02723.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0uJyccDMLak/UaXbF5gIlJI/AAAAAAAACN8/_MHCqDjxRA0/s320/DSC02723.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
What a difference...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iuv8aJYxQuY/UaXbI81YsoI/AAAAAAAACOE/-jAGjiLadQY/s1600/DSC02724.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iuv8aJYxQuY/UaXbI81YsoI/AAAAAAAACOE/-jAGjiLadQY/s320/DSC02724.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I've put together some kits so you can start to play....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I wanted a pocket to keep my embroidery hoop and a small pair of scissors, along with storage for needles and thread that are handy when I'm travelling.<br />
<br />
My friends at Dotty Dolly gave me a gift of five fat eights of lovely red Moda Fabric which just called out to be something special.<br />
<br />
First a pocket for my hoop. I picked up the design on the fabric to use in the embroidered panel. The flowers are formed with Bullion Knots, French Knots and tiny seed beads.<br />
The bag is lined and has a pleated ruffle along the top.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-XvMG6JK4RXY/UYKLboqCy1I/AAAAAAAACMY/z-8W4gykGgk/s1600/DSC02715.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-XvMG6JK4RXY/UYKLboqCy1I/AAAAAAAACMY/z-8W4gykGgk/s400/DSC02715.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
On the back is a place to keep a small pair of scissors held in with a covered button and loop.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Iy1Z-SrK5mo/UYKMA8yknfI/AAAAAAAACMg/rE0R7f_Zk8g/s1600/DSC02714.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Iy1Z-SrK5mo/UYKMA8yknfI/AAAAAAAACMg/rE0R7f_Zk8g/s400/DSC02714.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
Next a place to keep needles, threads and a marker. Again I've picked out designs from the fabric for the <br />
stitchery and fussy cut the fabric for the covered button.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-caQYovMvbXI/UYKMS5uqVpI/AAAAAAAACMo/5_kDIeorH0w/s1600/DSC02716.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-caQYovMvbXI/UYKMS5uqVpI/AAAAAAAACMo/5_kDIeorH0w/s400/DSC02716.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
Inside, a pocket for packs of needles, a place for a fabric marker, a pocket for threads and a pretty <br />
stitched needlekeep<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wvVF_XodmP4/UYKMfekYxCI/AAAAAAAACMw/HgexHk6BOsY/s1600/DSC02719.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wvVF_XodmP4/UYKMfekYxCI/AAAAAAAACMw/HgexHk6BOsY/s320/DSC02719.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
a real chance to play with stitches here......<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TXBB2Sd0Dto/UYKMvmQIctI/AAAAAAAACM4/Bb0yfUfbPGM/s1600/DSC02718.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TXBB2Sd0Dto/UYKMvmQIctI/AAAAAAAACM4/Bb0yfUfbPGM/s320/DSC02718.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'm working on the patterns for these and more sewing treasures to put in my Etsy shop soon.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Meanwhile, at long last the sun is shining and the sky is blue so I'm enjoying some spectacular walks. After a long wet Winter it's a real joy to be outdoors.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Have a great weekend.</div>

There is nothing that I enjoy as much as the feel of needle and thread...<br />
<br />
I made my first felted beret this week in a workshop with the lovely Julie Bowen. Her instructions were clear and concise and her work was a true inspiration.<br />
<br />
After a couple of hours I managed to finish most of the initial layers of wool and silk fibres. Time ran out in class so I've finished the felting process at home.<br />
<br />
Here is the finished beret with some hand stitching,<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Un_L2lOJhPE/UXVK6hF9Q_I/AAAAAAAACIw/t3v-58WVobI/s1600/DSC02704.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Un_L2lOJhPE/UXVK6hF9Q_I/AAAAAAAACIw/t3v-58WVobI/s320/DSC02704.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I am pleased with the way it turned out although I need more practise so will be making more...<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-abnDx7UB_68/UXVK-NFysdI/AAAAAAAACI4/pk47Ltw9GvY/s1600/DSC02705.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-abnDx7UB_68/UXVK-NFysdI/AAAAAAAACI4/pk47Ltw9GvY/s320/DSC02705.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
It goes perfectly with this spotty fabric... so a bag was needed, a quick and easy make that's light and easy to carry.<br />

<br />
and to finish, I used some of my sample pieces of felt to make these brooches.<br />
<br />
The blue is indigo dyed with a resist, a fabulous process that I really loved. <br />
The orange leaf is my first attempt at eco-dyeing using eucalyptus leaves<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I stiffened the felt a little and needed to create a firm backing to hold the brooch pin but I've solved the puzzle of ''how to'' and will be making more soon..</div>
<br />
I'm learning so much, expanding my knowledge and loving it!!!!<br />

Have a fun and creative week<br />

We have a class for four hours on Tuesday afternoons and have been looking at some interesting techniques including the wonderful alchemy of Indigo dying, which I loved, and this week the magic of 'Cyanotype'.<br />
<br />
We painted a piece of white cotton with a green coloured chemical then immediately placed some leaves and grasses on the top. The whole thing was covered in a piece of clear perspex then placed in the sun for the rest of the afternoon. The fabric turned a steely grey where it was exposed to UV light and stayed white under the leaves. when we rinsed the fabric in cold water it turned this fabulous blue.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ADzWrMtrAQA/UVmtm81XJBI/AAAAAAAACH4/6NwQM66Jos4/s1600/DSC02686.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ADzWrMtrAQA/UVmtm81XJBI/AAAAAAAACH4/6NwQM66Jos4/s320/DSC02686.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
It's truly an amazing process, I'm embroidering over this now and will share the results soon.<br />
<br />
Felting is a really new skill for me, and I need lots of practise. I love the random nature of the finished results which can't really be predicted.<br />
<br />
I love the soft feel of 18 micron Merino, so I combined it with a flesh coloured 23 micron Merino to try my hand at making a collar.<br />
<br />
Now, I'm really a novice and I'm experimenting so be kind to me.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ni9EWcXdXAU/UVmtp8VLdeI/AAAAAAAACIE/hX6Zr0LPYGk/s1600/DSC02687.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ni9EWcXdXAU/UVmtp8VLdeI/AAAAAAAACIE/hX6Zr0LPYGk/s400/DSC02687.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I used little pieces fleece from Leslie Prior's wonderful Angora goats to add a little texture and mulberry silk to create the large flowers.<br />
<br />
I couldn't resist a little free machine embroidery over the holes, around the large flowers and lots of <br />
small flowers in a soft pink.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TpFF3RLVxDo/UVmtsX_XPNI/AAAAAAAACIM/9LaDcVrUkkc/s1600/DSC02688.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TpFF3RLVxDo/UVmtsX_XPNI/AAAAAAAACIM/9LaDcVrUkkc/s320/DSC02688.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
The rose pin was made from felt which I cut into petals and stitched adding stamens and seed beads to the centre. Two silk cocoons have been embellished and hang below the flower.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KL0vxHPu2P0/UVmtvNYGlwI/AAAAAAAACIU/F85yI0rkZoM/s1600/DSC02690.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KL0vxHPu2P0/UVmtvNYGlwI/AAAAAAAACIU/F85yI0rkZoM/s320/DSC02690.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
This is the back, aren't those curly bits lovely,<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-P18SxqRGkaM/UVmtxXgw7eI/AAAAAAAACIc/A0ndHnMqIXg/s1600/DSC02691.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-P18SxqRGkaM/UVmtxXgw7eI/AAAAAAAACIc/A0ndHnMqIXg/s320/DSC02691.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The felt is very pale so I hope you can see the pictures...<br />
<br />
I had a small piece left over from making the flower so I've stitched a little pocket. it's not quite finished so that's a little project for this evening.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CN69v30JKQg/UVmtzzbJOcI/AAAAAAAACIk/3UHIHU7Hv0Q/s1600/DSC02689.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CN69v30JKQg/UVmtzzbJOcI/AAAAAAAACIk/3UHIHU7Hv0Q/s320/DSC02689.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I hope you have all had a wonderful Easter and not eaten too much chocolate....<br />

She lives 200 miles away in London so we can't get together very often.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
My surprise came carefully wrapped in a pink box..............<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-uOweYPZNv1s/UTy0d-334mI/AAAAAAAACHU/Te7xaagIfmo/s1600/DSC02685.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-uOweYPZNv1s/UTy0d-334mI/AAAAAAAACHU/Te7xaagIfmo/s320/DSC02685.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
They are beautiful now that they are in a vase and the Freesias are sending a wonderful perfume around the room.<br />
<br />
It's a cold wet and gloomy day so I'm sitting cosy and warm and making more White Rabbits.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-p7FI9bNpX5A/UTy0hq1_YAI/AAAAAAAACHc/LR4y321hbeg/s1600/DSC02682.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-p7FI9bNpX5A/UTy0hq1_YAI/AAAAAAAACHc/LR4y321hbeg/s320/DSC02682.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
These two are for an Easter present for my granddaughters, I'm sending them off with a copy of Alice in Wonderland and some delicious Swiss chocolate bunnies.<br />

I'm four weeks in to my Felt making course and today was a special day spent talking about wool...and visiting Devon and Cornwall Wools.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2L-ay4fcxlA/UTTrR61tFqI/AAAAAAAACFc/gWi20QQwr7o/s1600/DSC02668.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2L-ay4fcxlA/UTTrR61tFqI/AAAAAAAACFc/gWi20QQwr7o/s320/DSC02668.JPG" width="320" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ng_V_p1rZ1Y/UTTrNDmbF_I/AAAAAAAACFU/88Rbep-j6T0/s1600/DSC02667.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ng_V_p1rZ1Y/UTTrNDmbF_I/AAAAAAAACFU/88Rbep-j6T0/s320/DSC02667.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Wool is a by product of meat production and therefore needs to be disposed of by farmers. Fleeces are brought to this huge (and very cold) warehouse where they are sorted and graded before being shipped out to different manufacturers.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vbOgqUvlqkQ/UTTrdEoDDtI/AAAAAAAACF0/H2QGHwk6ynU/s1600/DSC02660.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vbOgqUvlqkQ/UTTrdEoDDtI/AAAAAAAACF0/H2QGHwk6ynU/s320/DSC02660.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nSluMQlds_Q/UTTrZ3a6sRI/AAAAAAAACFs/nkASKYPF1RM/s1600/DSC02659.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nSluMQlds_Q/UTTrZ3a6sRI/AAAAAAAACFs/nkASKYPF1RM/s320/DSC02659.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Each fleece is individually graded by experts who can instantly assess the micron count and also see if the sheep has been under any stress which may affect the strength of the wool fibres.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_2itPbMEV94/UTTrmewPhzI/AAAAAAAACGE/wFj2KkvrpwQ/s1600/DSC02664.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_2itPbMEV94/UTTrmewPhzI/AAAAAAAACGE/wFj2KkvrpwQ/s320/DSC02664.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ybahWXZDmm8/UTTrU0RntvI/AAAAAAAACFk/kzFg7NfdyxM/s1600/DSC02655.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ybahWXZDmm8/UTTrU0RntvI/AAAAAAAACFk/kzFg7NfdyxM/s320/DSC02655.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-s3VZVKdCHOs/UTTrgmw4JeI/AAAAAAAACF8/3ptXExLbWjw/s1600/DSC02661.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-s3VZVKdCHOs/UTTrgmw4JeI/AAAAAAAACF8/3ptXExLbWjw/s320/DSC02661.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Different breeds of sheep produce a variety of types of fleece and in many colours..<br />
a really informative and interesting peek into wool production. I'm looking at sheep in the fields in a very different way now.<br />
<br />
The rest of the day was spent at a wonderful farm on Exmoor specialising in a modern rare breed sheep the Bowmont . these pretty little animals can be seen at <a href="http://www.devonfinefibres.co.uk/">Devon Fine Fibres</a> I won't even try to tell you about this little bit of heaven just click on the link and see for yourself....<br />
<br />
Enjoy,<br />

I bought the pattern and it arrived really quickly, Thank you Maureen, and I got started.<br />
<br />
I've had a piece of vintage wool flannel for a long time. I think it would have been be used to make warm underclothes in times gone by. Perfect for a White Rabbit.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-k1i9EWCip0s/URfIEP7UvvI/AAAAAAAACBQ/_YQvXP2pz9A/s1600/DSC02626.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-k1i9EWCip0s/URfIEP7UvvI/AAAAAAAACBQ/_YQvXP2pz9A/s400/DSC02626.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
She's got pearls for eyes and a pretty lace shawl pinned with a rose. Not like Maureen's picture on her pattern but I do think she's sweet.<br />
<br />
A friend very kindly gave me some lovely pieces of vintage linens and doilies. I decided to use them to create lovely gifts for ladies who stitch. What a lovely way to spend a rainy Sunday!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Wyf8nH5LxWQ/URfIHg_tjXI/AAAAAAAACBY/ASyvdkm7XRw/s1600/DSC02627.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Wyf8nH5LxWQ/URfIHg_tjXI/AAAAAAAACBY/ASyvdkm7XRw/s400/DSC02627.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
This little set is made from linen place mats. I started with a needle case......<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KuqsY9yjEOI/URfIMiT7wqI/AAAAAAAACBg/v9fRQnBoZcg/s1600/DSC02629.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KuqsY9yjEOI/URfIMiT7wqI/AAAAAAAACBg/v9fRQnBoZcg/s320/DSC02629.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I love to stitch and I love textiles,and love to extend my skills as learning is such a joy. I shall be joining a Fibrecraft course at Bicton College starting next week this will teach me the art of making felt. I went for a taster day yesterday and loved it. The tutor, Gill Burbidge is really an inspirational lady and I'm sure I will develop some great new techniques. I have always admired Nuno felt scarves and bags so now I shall be making my own.<br />
<br />
I'll keep you all involved and hope you will follow my progress on the course.<br />
<br />
Have an inspiring and creative week.<br />

But, a girl has to keep stitching, so I've got out my Mum's machine, this beautiful Singer Featherlight.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VNbwkc2Gz5c/UPldeSytFFI/AAAAAAAAB-I/CyAnuaYPXP4/s1600/DSC02602.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VNbwkc2Gz5c/UPldeSytFFI/AAAAAAAAB-I/CyAnuaYPXP4/s320/DSC02602.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I remember her making things on this machine and today I've unwound the bobbins and removed various colours of thread from the bobbins, some must go back years it made me a little sad too.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Qa71doX0ZYg/UPldie2ucCI/AAAAAAAAB-Q/FNRsHBAoC0A/s1600/DSC02601.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Qa71doX0ZYg/UPldie2ucCI/AAAAAAAAB-Q/FNRsHBAoC0A/s320/DSC02601.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Despite not being used for a long time it sews an excellent straight stitch so I've cleaned her and oiled her and I'm good to go.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-EM4mlnuSLKo/UPldnjL1KLI/AAAAAAAAB-Y/0xXSnMKE4uI/s1600/DSC02603.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-EM4mlnuSLKo/UPldnjL1KLI/AAAAAAAAB-Y/0xXSnMKE4uI/s320/DSC02603.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And...joy of joys..... the tray has lots of different attachments including a ruffle foot.<br />
<br />
I was delighted to sell the Fabric and Lace journal in my Etsy shop, it is on it's way to Nichole in the US, (Thank you Nichole) so now I'm ready to start on another.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-X67zkwZm3L8/UPld9zFRgqI/AAAAAAAAB-w/BCUpWrmdXLM/s1600/DSC02600.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-X67zkwZm3L8/UPld9zFRgqI/AAAAAAAAB-w/BCUpWrmdXLM/s320/DSC02600.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Looking through my fabrics and pictures I am inspired to use these </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
lovely shades of purple and this pretty girl.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have some cotton lawn fabric which I stamped and just need to choose some laces and trims before I start.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It's snowing outside so I'm home for the weekend, just me and my sewing machine.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'm adding a pretty supplies kit with a rose theme to my Etsy shop</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pMCFcZo1oRk/UPld1rYZ7VI/AAAAAAAAB-o/JBHOZ-6yPyA/s1600/DSC02597.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pMCFcZo1oRk/UPld1rYZ7VI/AAAAAAAAB-o/JBHOZ-6yPyA/s320/DSC02597.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Three hand stamped tags with pink hand dyed ribbon,<br />
three pieces cotton lawn stamped with French text <br />
around an old rose and a lavender scented heart.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KLW73-nhNDw/UPleCNB-YtI/AAAAAAAAB-4/vEICrP6pFkg/s1600/DSC02604.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KLW73-nhNDw/UPleCNB-YtI/AAAAAAAAB-4/vEICrP6pFkg/s320/DSC02604.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I added three pretty organza roses, a hand made tag and a decorated clothes pin to complete the package.<br />
<br />
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, keep warm if you're in the snow,<br />
enjoy an iced drink if you're in Australia's heat.<br />

In my drive to use all of my left over scraps from recent projects this little house popped into my head.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-04ng8V0Iums/UPVln00IvdI/AAAAAAAAB88/CX5S3BXu8a0/s1600/DSC02591.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-04ng8V0Iums/UPVln00IvdI/AAAAAAAAB88/CX5S3BXu8a0/s320/DSC02591.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Who wouldn't want to live in a pretty little house with 'Roses round the door''and where the sun always shines on a lovely garden.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used some more left over fabric which has been fused to a linen background then free machined in place.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
There's lots of hand embroidery with Bullion roses climbing up the house wall, trees and flowers in the garden and a pin-wheel sun shining.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QtmD878s4ho/UPVlqRoF_BI/AAAAAAAAB9E/R0n4wacmyxU/s1600/DSC02592.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QtmD878s4ho/UPVlqRoF_BI/AAAAAAAAB9E/R0n4wacmyxU/s320/DSC02592.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I've stretched the linen over an artists canvas ready to hang on the wall.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Wouldn't it be delightful in a little girls room?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I recently bought two vintage French baby collars, they are hand made and very pretty.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-A8PCN6ecIzs/UPVlwO8x3KI/AAAAAAAAB9U/ueiTerOJ3tY/s1600/DSC02594.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-A8PCN6ecIzs/UPVlwO8x3KI/AAAAAAAAB9U/ueiTerOJ3tY/s320/DSC02594.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I added a little hand embroidery to this one. it looks like a bib here so I'm not sure of it's original use.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-r5t8UjEP8f8/UPVlzQbVKDI/AAAAAAAAB9c/mgzJ9N3iBxM/s1600/DSC02595.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-r5t8UjEP8f8/UPVlzQbVKDI/AAAAAAAAB9c/mgzJ9N3iBxM/s320/DSC02595.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
here it looks more like a collar, what do you think?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iPbOQkqxRK0/UPVl2Xj3MII/AAAAAAAAB9k/6EAQuVjHBKU/s1600/DSC02596.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iPbOQkqxRK0/UPVl2Xj3MII/AAAAAAAAB9k/6EAQuVjHBKU/s320/DSC02596.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I've put this picture in so you can see that the edging has been beautifully hand rolled and stitched. Some one has spent many hours making these.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Both of these will be in my Etsy shop soon.</div>
<br />
Now still more scraps to use... so I'm back to stitching.<br />
