My First Giveaway.

Hi there, I'm so excited to at last have my new blog, it is so beautiful and I bet you know who had a hand in the design, Yes! of course the fabulous 'Karen Valentine'. Once again she has worked her magic and given me just what I wanted.

The English Romantic will be the place to buy all those beautiful bits and pieces that I,m sure you will love and to celebrate my launch I am having my first Giveaway.

This is what I've put together just for you.

It's a pretty velvet zipped bag decorated with lace and inside you'll find, one of my grandmas crocheted doilys ,some pieces of lace and ribbon, a length of bead fringe and a little posy of velvet millinery flowers.

I'm going to get my grandson to draw the winner before he starts College on the 13th of September. He is going to be excited too that day.
I'll be putting some of these' Lucious Inspirations' in my shop soon.

Progress on the Christmas quilt.

Progress on my Christmas quilt is slow, I keep being distracted by other things. (see my other blog )                                         The angel is aloft, surrounded by stars. New makes and a Giveaway.

I hope you have all had a great Christmas and here's to a fun 2011. I'm going to start as I mean to go on and keep my creative side in full swing.  I am putting some Hydraengea flower heads in my Etsy shop, they are made of velvet and come in gorgeous vintage colours. Just to give you an idea, this is something I made yesterday. I started with a piece of dyed and felted wool blanket, some merino wool tops and a piece of embellished net fabric.                               The first piece of blanket was a shade of grey but I forgot to take the picture, you know how it is,too much on the go. I used my embellisher to felt the merino wool on to the fabric, I didn't overwork it so it stayed nice and soft. You could also do this with a hand held felter the results are the same. Next I used the embellisher to attach a strip of the net fabric, I love how it leaves a frill around the edges.  Here you can see I've free machined a design over the felted fabric and add
