Teaching sample and some special buys.

I finished one of the samples for my class at The Festival of Quilts in August. I like to make several variations to inspire my students.

I have used different pieces of lace over a base cut from an old quilt, then stitched in the same colour Valdani thread throughout. The silk ribbon roses and leaves are in a pretty shade of pink. This time I've backed the heart and it is soft stuffed with some added lavender to give a soft fragrance.

She has a lovely face and a wistful expression don't you think.

Today has been a shopping day . First in Totnes market where I found these lovely crocheted doilies.

The darker ones are worked with such a fine thread ..exquisite.

Then on to Ashburton where I found this delightful cuff.

It is quite old and beautifully made, do you see the tiny buttons. It may have been attached to a sleeve at some time in it's life. I'm thinking that I could make a brides Wedding cuff with it... may be!!

We've had heavy showers today and I managed to get a soaking so I'm ready for a shower and a glass of wine and lots of tv tonight.

xox Angela.

And also love your great finds.

So pretty! Your students will be inspired for sure. I got a crocheted large doilie and a runner for 2.99 at Goodwill yesterday. It is beautiful. Amazing the deals you can get!

Hi Angela
I love how your have used a bit of quilt in the first heart - looks stunning!
Love your laces too and that beautiful lace cuff - what a find was that!
Your scented lavender heart in previous post is just perfect to hand on the bed.
It has given me the idea of doing the same!
Hugs for a lovely Sunday,
