My wonderful Bernina sewing machine has gone to be serviced and I miss it so much. But, a girl has to keep stitching, so I've got out my Mum's machine, this beautiful Singer Featherlight. I remember her making things on this machine and  today I've unwound the bobbins and removed various colours of thread from the bobbins, some must go back years it made me a little sad too. Despite not being used for a long time it sews an excellent straight stitch so I've cleaned her and oiled her and I'm good to go.                   And...joy of joys..... the tray has lots of different attachments including a ruffle foot.   I was delighted to sell the Fabric and Lace journal in my Etsy shop, it is on it's way to Nichole in the US, (Thank you Nichole) so now I'm ready to start on another. Looking through my fabrics and pictures I am inspired to use these  lovely shades of purple and this pretty girl. I have some cotton lawn fabric which I sta

I've been thinking about designing some appliqué pictures. In my drive to use all of my left over scraps from recent projects this little house popped into my head.     Who wouldn't want to live in a pretty little house with 'Roses round the door''and where the sun always shines on a lovely garden. I used some more left over fabric which has been fused to a linen background then free machined in place. There's lots of hand embroidery with Bullion roses climbing up the house wall, trees and flowers in the garden and a pin-wheel sun shining. I've stretched the linen over an artists canvas ready to hang on the wall. Wouldn't it be delightful in a little girls room? I recently bought two vintage French baby collars, they are hand made and very pretty. I added a little hand embroidery to this one. it looks like a bib here so I'm not sure of it's original use. here it looks more like a collar, what do you t

I used some left over fabric from my  " Little girls bring" quilt to cover this box.  The top is embellished with burlap, lace and flowers The inside has this lovely Laura Ashley paper and a rose scented heart. So right for Valentines Day don't you think.... I can't resist making books so the first one in 2013 is a fabric and lace journal... I used lots of layers held together with machine embroidery.... There are fabric pages... and two paper signatures each with twelve pages to write your thoughts and inspiration... I love lace and have added lots of my favourite bits to this piece... The back cover has lace and scrim and more stitching. I'm adding these to my Etsy shop today along with this little bear... and a pretty bag.... Pop in my shop and take a look. Enjoy the weekend and Happy stitching. xox Angela

Little girls bring...

I've neglected my blog and my Etsy shop lately. I have been involved with other things that have taken me from doing the things that are important. Over the holiday I have had time to evaluate where I want my business to go in 2013 and as I've always loved making quilts I sat and pieced, embroidered and quilted. I love roses in soft delicate shades and was drawn to these pretty fabrics. I've seen wonky cross quilts made by my fellow bloggers. I love hand embroidery, it's an never ending passion. This quilt, for a little girl, is a combination of all of the above.  I've called it  'Little girls bring...' and the words ..smiles...hugs....kisses...love.....hope....joy.. really are just the thing.  Each appliquéd hexagon has a different word and the centres of the other crosses have a bullion rose and scrolls.                                                         There is some free machine quilting with a leaf design. I used Dr
